Bed and Breakfast in Worcester - About Us

Barrington House is a very beautiful four storey Georgian property in a walled garden on the banks of the River Severn. We enjoy panoramic views, to our right the cathedral, straight ahead to the racecourse and fading to the left into green fields.

We bought this house in Christmas 2005. It was shabby and extremely dated with the usual 60s and 70s DIY. A previous owner had lowered ceilings and partitioned off rooms to let out to students, so the house was a hotch potch.

The house was built of some importance, with stables and four cottages in around nine acres of orchard according to the original deeds. A previous occupant was the owner of The Royal Worcester porcelain factory.

My ethos is to be true to the original house and as the great man said “I have a dream”, so the ceilings went up and walls came down and it was clear from day one, from the scale and grandeur of this house, that the accommodation would have to be luxurious. So, I am a woman on a mission, searching reclamation yards and antique fairs for door handles, finger plates etc.

I absolutely love living in this house and to wake every morning to see the swans and the odd barge chugging down the river is just so peaceful and tranquil. But please don’t take my word for it, come and experience it for yourself.

I look forward to welcoming you into my beautiful home
